All your labor, equipment and materials that are used on projects can be stored in the built-in databases. They can be hierarchically categorized and coded to enhance reporting, retrieval, and organization.

4castplus provides you with the ability to configure Billing Rate Tables that serve as the rate sheets that define how your time is billed to the client. For every hour of labor or equipment time on T&M projects, 4castplus will use the applicable billing rate to determine the billable amount to charge as recognized revenue on the project.

And, since you can configure both cost and billing rate tables, 4castplus also applies cost; and calculates profit in real time. These billing rates are pertinent to labor, equipment, materials, expenses, and services.

4castplus allows you to configure complex labor rate structures, including union labor, overtime, crews, and composite rates. This enables you to preconfigure the rules for when a pay class should jump from, for example, straight time to overtime, etc. When a site foreman enters the time for their crew, they only need to enter the number of hours, and the system applies the applicable rates according to the rules. They don’t have to know that a 15-hour day is split between straight, overtime, and double overtime. They just enter 15, and the system takes care of the rest. The same applies to a work week.

For materials, you can categorize and code them for easy procurement, inventory management, and accurate cost tracking. 4castplus has powerful built-in timesheets for labor and equipment, along with tracking of materials through purchase orders or supplier invoice entry (non-PO costs). Everything is costed in real-time and uses the preconfigured rates for accurate cost and billing.

The 4castplus estimating module leverages the cost and billing rate tables to the take-off level of resource-level estimating. In the project estimate, you can itemize the labor, equipment, materials, expenses, etc. that are required for the budget of any task. Each estimate item will be costed using the quantity and rate for that item. If you need 100 hours of a Senior Ironworker, for example, the system will look up the applicable rate in the rate table and calculate the total. The rate tables hold all the standardized cost & billing rates for any resource used in estimating (labor, equipment, materials, etc.). Rate tables can be configured for the project and also by each task, so that you can be very specific as to which rates are applicable in each case. You can also establish ‘effective dates’ of rate tables. This means that the system will automatically apply the correct rate at a point in time, allowing for anticipated rate escalations. This same estimating capacity is also available in change orders.
